I live and work in a war zone. For the past few months the hopes, fears and dreads have been part of all our lives. My clients feel the tension and the anxiety that comes with fear. Fear of their lives, their homes and, of course, their families. PTSD has become a way of life, and must be treated. Whether it’s the soldiers, their families or the general public. I find running various types of support groups helpful, as well as individual therapy.
We all also fear for the future, we have no idea what it’s going to look like or how it’s going to impact our lives. All we can do is is be strong, live in the present and have a very strong support system. Outlets and coping tools are important, whether your helping, healing or fighting. I see many young men and women dealing with the problems our situation has created. Should I go out and fun ? Is it right? Sleep is deprived, and the need to want to run away is very strong.
I encourage everybody to get help to work through the incredibly difficult times we are living through.
